Glen Ellyn History Park Campaign                     Glen Ellyn Historical Society
Goal: $300,000
Contributions to this fund will help to establish the Glen Ellyn Center for Historical Research as an area-wide resource for those interested in studying the history of Glen Ellyn, its homes, families and institutions.

This fund will expand the History Center’s digital scanning, electronic data storage and retrieval systems for research activities and its capacity for offering genealogical research. It also will provide for a significant increase in the number of documents, photos and artifacts pertaining to the history of this area, and

an upgrading of the facilities and technology used by students and others.

The Lee Hesterman Fund honors the memory of a local entrepreneur who collected and preserved much of Glen Ellyn’s history through photos and other archives and generously shared them with the community. Lee Hesterman, whose Glen Ellyn roots (and those of his wife, Harriet Dodge Hesterman) go back several generations, was appointed to the Village’s first Historic Preservation Commission. He also chaired Glen Ellyn’s Diamond Jubilee celebration in 1967, and was active in the creation of the Village Links Golf Course.
